Day 1: Arrive Varanasi

Get to Varanasi. Upon arrival, greet and help with the transfer to the hotel.

Varanasi, one of India’s ancient educational centers, is beautifully located on the crescent-shaped left bank of the sacred Ganga. It is supposed to be a compound of the names of two streams, the Varuna and the Assi, which still flow in the city’s north and south, respectively. One of India’s oldest cities still in existence is likely Varanasi. Millions of Hindus travel there annually, making it one of their most revered pilgrimage sites and a major religious hub from the beginning of time.

VARANASI CITY/TEMPLE TOUR

Visit Kashi Vishvnath Temple, often called the Golden Temple, which honors Lord Shiva, the city’s ruling god. Bharat Mata shrine, a special shrine honoring Mother India, is the city’s holiest location. Instead of the traditional gods and goddesses, it contains a marble relief map of India. The patriots Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta and Shri Durga Prasad gave this special temple to Mahatma Gandhi. Tulsi Manas Temple: Dedicated to Lord Rama, this modern marble sikhara-style temple was constructed in 1964 by a wealthy Varanasi family.

The walls of this magnificent white marble edifice are etched with scenes and verses from Ram Charit Manas.

Watch a live Aarti ceremony in the evening on the Ganges River.

Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 02: Varanasi

A BOAT RIDE IN THE MORNING IN GANGES

Get to the Ghats early in the morning to take a boat ride on the Ganges. The ghats are bustling with activity at morning as devotees give prayers to the rising sun, practice other religious rites, and perform their ablutions in the river. Views of these activities can be obtained by taking a boat trip along the ghats from the Dasaswamedh ghat. Later Walk around the Kashi Vishwanath alleys while taking a sacred bath in the Ganges.

Tour of Sarnath

After breakfast, visit Sarnath, which is a testament to its illustrious past as the site of Lord Buddha’s first sermon outlining the fundamentals of Buddhism. Explore the Archaeological Museum’s art collection (closed on Fridays).

Varanasi shopping tour later.

Transfer to the airport in the late evening to catch your aircraft for the next leg of your journey.
