Day 1: Arrive Varanasi

Get to Varanasi. Upon arrival, greet and help with the transfer to the hotel. Varanasi, one of India’s ancient educational centers, is beautifully located on the crescent-shaped left bank of the sacred Ganga. It is supposed to be a compound of the names of two streams, the Varuna and the Assi, which still flow in the city’s north and south, respectively. One of India’s oldest cities still in existence is likely Varanasi. Millions of Hindus travel there annually, making it one of their most revered pilgrimage sites and a major religious hub from the beginning of time.

VARANASI CITY/TEMPLE TOUR

Visit Kashi Vishvnath Temple, often called the Golden Temple, which honors Lord Shiva, the city’s ruling god. Bharat Mata shrine, a special shrine honoring Mother India, is the city’s holiest location. Instead of the traditional gods and goddesses, it contains a marble relief map of India. The patriots Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta and Shri Durga Prasad gave this special temple to Mahatma Gandhi. Tulsi Manas Temple: Dedicated to Lord Rama, this modern marble sikhara-style temple was constructed in 1964 by a wealthy Varanasi family. The walls of this magnificent white marble edifice are etched with scenes and verses from Ram Charit Manas.

Watch a live Aarti ceremony in the evening on the Ganges River.

Witness the Aarti ceremony later in the evening. The Aarti Ceremony is a Hindu ritual in which the deities are worshipped by light or fire that is kindled with the use of wicks soaked in ghee or clarified butter. The Aarti ceremony is a part of nearly every Hindu worship practice. The Rig Veda, which is regarded as the oldest Hindu literature, may include the earliest reference to the Ceremony of Aarti in India.

The Rig Veda claims that the Vedic ideas of intricate sacrificial fires, or Homa, are the source of the practice of Aarti. The Sanskrit words “Aa” (meaning “towards”) and “Rati” (meaning “the highest love for God”) are combined to form the word “Aarti.” Therefore, the true meaning of the term Aarti is “highest love for God.”

The town of Ayodhya is described in a number of legends, such as the epic “Ramayana”.

The biggest festival of India, Diwali, dates back to Ayodhya, when the entire town was illuminated with earthen lamps on the return of Rama, who had killed Ravana, from his victory.

Atharvaveda has explained that “Ayodhya is a ‘city built by Gods’ and is prospering as ‘paradise itself #’. Hinduism is not the only religion that had prospered here; Jain, Buddhist, as well as Islamic, civilizations also thrived here. It is also the origin of the five Tirthankaras, including Adinath, of Jain religion. Next, proceed for the sightseeing of Ayodhya

hanuman garhi

Hanuman Garhi is a 10th-century temple that is a dedication to the Hindu God, Hanuman. It is a very significant temple in Ayodhya because, as a tradition, people are supposed to pay a visit to the Hanuman Garhi temple before going to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. It is a belief that Lord Hanuman resided at this place, safeguarding the city of Ayodhya.

Ram Janm Bhumi

Translating to “Birthplace of Ram,” the Ram Janmabhoomi is known to be the birthplace of the Hindu deity, Lord Ram. It is known that, as per the Hindu epic “Ramayan,” Lord Ram, who is the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, brought up his childhood in the presence of the River Sarayu in Ayodhya. The Ram Janmabhoomi is a very sacred shrine for the Hindu followers.
